How to Join GameWorld

Anyone interested in games of most kinds can join this club! You don't have to be an artist or author to join us. However, if you do create original or fan game art and fiction, this is the club for you to finally be seen by other gamers! All game lovers are welcome!
Sorry, this is not a sports club.
Fanboyism is not allowed here. This means there will be no debating, fighting, dissing, or any kind of display of extreme loyality or bashing towards Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, or other companies. Instead, use
intelligent discussion about the pros and cons of each company and their consoles. Discuss about consoles, games, companies, etc. Do not debate about them. I hope this is clear. You will be warned, kicked, and even banned if you don't follow this rule. GameWorld is a place to intelligently discuss all kinds of gaming and display original and fan game art. It is not a place of debating and flame wars over what company and console is better or worse.

To join the GameWorld club you
must do these steps:
1. You have to devwatch GameWorld
2. Add the GameWorld's icon to your front journal (asap)
3. Read and follow all the rules and guidelines below.

To become a member of the GameWorld chat room, simply go to the
chatroom and tell one of the staff members that you would like to join. Please inform the staff if you have already done the two steps above. You will also need to tell them what category you wish to be under for the chat: Hardcore, Retro, or Casual.

You may join your additional accounts to the club as well. However, you may
not join with a club account.

You can devwatch GameWorld by clicking here:

1. Do not insult, fight, or make rude remarks towards others and their artwork.
2. Fanboyism is strictly forbidden! (follow the paragraph at the top of the page).
3. Do not make racist comments or use racist slurs.
4. Do not make derogatory remarks regarding people's religions and beliefs.
5. Do not make sexist remarks or criticize sexual preferences.
6. Discussion about politics, religion, economic, or social/world issues is forbidden unless it relates to video games.
7. Avoid excessive profanity.
8. Critiques on art and literature must be constructive, not hurtful.
9. Debates are strongly discouraged. Intelligent discussion is recommended.

15. All DA rules and policies apply to this chat room, including no posting of pornography.
16. No links to file sharing sites, torrents, warez, roms, or anything else deemed illegal by law.
17. No illegal activities are allowed, such as hacking, selling pornography, etc.
If it's not allowed on DA, it's not allowed here.
Breaking these rules and disrupting the peace of GameWorld chat will
result in a kick or ban depending on the severity of your actions. You will
most likely be warned first, and then kicked if you don't follow our rules. Don't think we won't ban you if we feel that you're too much trouble.

If you ever have a
problem with another chat member, please report it to one of the staff members in the chat or to *
GameWorld. The staff in the room are there to help you. Don't let your chat experience be ruined by others, we are here to deal with any problems.

At times, there may be an annoying person in the chat room. They might not mean to be annoying to others, but that's just how they come off. It is very hard to deal with situations like this because we do not like to discriminate. However, if our members feel that he or she ruins the chat experience, then sadly we will have to remove such a person.
Always listen to all staff members. If they tell you that you're breaking the rules, then you are.
Don't argue with them about it, just follow what they say and you'll be fine.

You may post unlimited amounts of thumbnails with no time constraints between posting,
however you may not flood the room with multiple thumbs of the same piece of artwork. This is not to say you cannot post the same piece more than once, just be aware of the no spamming rule. Keep in mind that if people in the chat are having conversations, let them know you wish to post thumbs. It's rude to cut people off with thumbnails without forewarning.

To display thumbnails in the chat, pick a piece of art and take the numbers from the web address and insert them between :thumb and : -- such as :
thumb589759:
Example: If the URL of your deviation is:
http://otaku1811.deviantart.com/deviation/523458/ , you'll take the number 523458, and you put it in like this: :
thumb523458:

You can use the GameWorld chat to promote yourself and your artwork, but
not your chatroom or club. Please do not let your club accounts idle in our chat-- we will kick them.

Feel free to use links to other web sites such as IGN.com or GameStop.com in the chat room. However, do
not spam us with links or link us to spam. Do
not link us to pornography of any kind!
Be aware if you flood or spam the chat, you may be quickly kicked and even banned. There will be no questions asked nor will there be any second chances.

Please be aware that we are not a sports club or chat. You can talk about sports video games and such, but limit your conversations on actual sports. They may be games, but actual sports is a huge subject that we do not want to get into here. Sorry if this is a problem, however sports lovers can discuss the latest sports games here.

DA
forbids any kind of links or encouragement of illegal downloads. Please
leave emulators, roms, torrents, warez, and other illegal files
out of all conversations and links. You can mention how illegal roms affect the game industry, but thats it. Please do not promote it here. If you link to an illegal download site, you will automatically be banned because of DeviantArt's policy.
No posting of pornography or hentai, meaning you cannot post adult pictures or send links to sites that may contain harmful material for younger members. However, you may show deviations that are labeled mature, such as artistic nude.

Art and Literature Submission Policy
Please read ALL of the rules here. Otherwise I will not post your work!

You may only submit
game related artwork and literature, nothing else. This includes original game art and design as well as fan art and fiction based on any game. All these platforms are included: Console, Handheld, Mobile, PC, Arcade, Retro, Board Game, Card Game, etc. However, the primary focus of the group is video games.

To submit art and literature to the GameWorld club you
must follow these steps:
1. Create a note entitled "GW Submission"
2. All artwork links must be in the form of thumb codes: :thumb546879:
3. All literature works must be in the form of a link with the TITLE of the story, by the author's username next to it. (check the example)
4. You will create a TITLE above each collection of thumbs and links with what game these images or writings were created for, such as Final Fantasy X. (check the example)
5. You may only submit three images/writings per note! You may send one note a week, but please do not spam/flood me. I have the right to deny your submission.
6. Double check your note with the example below this list.
7. Send your submission to *GameWorld
Example for game fanart:
Recipient(s): GameWorld
Subject: GW Submission
Message:

Example for literature:
Halo 3
The Battle for the Earth by HaloFan321 http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/78946135/
Example for Original Game Art:
Name of my Game series
:thumb797644: :thumb889964:

Don't know how to send a "Submission" note? Click Here:
Send Note

You
must follow my system of art/literature submissions above as best as you can. If you fail to do so in a reasonable way, I may deny your submission and make you do it over again. The game titles should include the game number if the game had sequels. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to contact *
GameWorld

Please realize that DeviantArt forbids submissions of any type of copyrighted material on their web site, this includes screenshots and use of copyrighted sprites in creative ways. I know many of us will like to use sprites from Mario, Space Invaders, etc in our art creations, but sadly DeviantArt forbids this. So, when you are posting your art on DeviantArt, please realize you cannot post any of the aforementioned things on your account. Otherwise, DA will remove any and all copyrighted material.

Lastly, please
do not send me the same deviation more than once! It's happened a few times and it's no fun to go through the process of submitting a piece only to realize I already submitted it. It is up to you to keep track of what deviations you send to me!

Guide For The Enforcers
For those of you who are thinking of becoming helpers for the GameWorld chat and those who already are helpers, this guide will help you understand what will be required of you. This guide will help teach you the beginning steps and instruct you on what to do in various situations.
What exactly are Enforcers?

The title or rank of The Enforcers is a position of authority within our club. The Enforcers are the staff members that directly manage and help in GameWorld's chat room. They are the ones who deal with and solve any problems or conflicts between members in the chat. They are also the ones who greet guests and members as they enter and help guests to join our club. The Enforcers basically keep the peace and order and help out anyone in need. You should not fear our staff because they are there for your service and guidance. However, they are authority and you must always listen and obey their enforcement of the rules.
How to become a Candidate to be an Enforcer

If you are interested in helping out in the GameWorld chatroom, please read over these guidelines. If you meet these requirements and think you can handle the job, send a note to *
GameWorld.

Naturally be outgoing and interested in helping others.

Be an active member of the GameWorld chatroom, visiting it more than twice a week.

Spark conversations and welcome people who come into the chat.

Following the helper guidelines and chatroom rules strictly.

We are looking for members that can actually
devote a lot of time to this club and its chat room. People who are
serious about helping and managing a club and its members. We're looking for people who can stay
faithful and
listen to their superiors and co-workers and work well with them. Managing a chat is a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility is placed on these helpers. If you don't feel you can meet these requirements, then you may
not be right for this job.
Do not beg the GameWorld staff to become a helper. All good GameWorld members are willing to help their fellow or soon-to-be members naturally. Following these requirements will only make it more likely for you to be chosen, it will not guarantee it. Helpers are picked out of many possible candidates that stand out from the rest and are deemed worthwhile by the GameWorld staff. If you're interested in being a helper, send a note to *
GameWorld and I'll send you a form. You are not guaranteed to get a reply back with a yes or no answer unless we're positive. What will happen is your application will be kept on record for future reference unless we tell you otherwise.
Making New Members

When you're available and active in the chatroom, always greet members and guests when they enter the room.

For guests, try to make them feel at home in the chat; make it a place they would want to come back to. Start conversations with them, get a feel for their personalities, and when you feel the time is right, ask them if they would like to become members of GameWorld.

Try not to wait too long before you ask guests if they'd like to be members. Many guests leave before they are asked, so keep a 10-15 minute time limit from when you begin talking to them to when you ask them to join.

If a guest enters the room and you feel that they would cause trouble, don't ask them to join GameWorld. Use your judgment carefully because there are instances when members were made and later banned for misconduct.

If a guest asks to become a member right away then add them; people that ask usually have a good sense of what GameWorld is about.
Always tell new members to devwatch GameWorld and add the icon. If they don't know how to do those tasks, help them learn how or direct them to this page and tell them to read the instructions.

Once joined, you should ask them what category they will like to be under: Hardcore Gamers, Retro Gamers, or Casual Gamers.

To physically add a new member in the chatroom you should type: /promote username and the category.
Authoritative Powers

As an Enforcer you have certain powers. You can add members, demote members to guests, kick people, and ban people from the chatroom. You are given these powers to make reasonable decisions. The rules above and additional guidelines given to you are just the tip of the ice berg. You have to be able to use good judgment to not only enforce all the rules but all other situations that come up. You're here to enforce the peace, but do not abuse that power.

There are certain commands you can type do each of these tasks:
/promote username
This command moves a Guest directly into the first category after the guest rank. This can also be used with demote. (example: you can do
/demote username to return them to the rank below theirs).
/kick username (reason for being kicked)
This command removes a user from the chatroom. This is temporary, the user can return at any time. Please be sure to add a reason to let the person know why they were kicked.
/ban username
This removes the person from the chatroom into the Exiled status. In most cases, the people who get banned will stay banned permanently unless they can somehow make up for their misconduct or send a note of sincere apology to whomever they wronged. In such a case, you can give the banned person a second chance by typing
/unban username.

If you have any other questions regarding chat commands, please go here:
Chat Commands
When To Kick and Ban

If any of GameWorld's rules are
broken in the chatroom, you are
required to take appropriate action. In most situations, you will first
warn the person of their actions and if they refuse to stop by a second warning, you will
kick them. You may kick them after the first warning if it is more severe. You may
ban the offender if they refuse to stop after the second kick. Normally, whether or not to kick or ban depends on the
severity of the action.
Never kick or ban without trying to work out problems first unless they're flooding the room.

As a helper, you
must resolve every situation in the best possible manner. There must be peace. Do
not argue with the offender. You must try to calm them down and stop the issue. Do
not allow personal feelings and emotions to get in the way of dealing with them or any member. The situation must be delt with professionalism and calmness. If the offender asks what they did wrong, you should tell them in a peaceful way, but do not argue about it. You should state their offense from your view, that you believe what they said was offensive or breaking the rules. By making an attempt to keep it based on what you believe and not just plain fact, you will keep the issue under control and will not anger the offender more.

You will automatically
kick any excessive flooders right away and may even ban them. Spammers may be kicked, but hopefully we can warn them unless they flood us with spam. Posters of pornography will automatically be kicked and banned, but remember DA deviations of mature content is allowed.

You will automatically
kick/ban anyone who posts a link to illegal downloads, such as roms, torrents, warez, file sharing sites and programs, etc. If anyone promotes these illegal activities, they will be quickly
warned and
kicked. If they mention any encouragement towards it after being kicked; you'll automatically
ban them.

If there are people who pop into the room, post links, thumbs, icons, or anything else and then leave, ban them only if it occurs
frequently. This is a violation of the no spam rule and it disrupts the piece of the chat, especially if these people aren't interested in GameWorld.

If any guests or members start a fight, be it over difference of opinion or otherwise, try talking to them and calming everyone down. If the person does not want to cooperate, warn them. If they persist, kick them. If they return and wish to do more harm, ban them.

If anyone makes insults or uses rude remarks in the chat to hurt others, automatically
warn them and if they do not stop,
kick them. You should also keep people in check at all times. If people are being bothersome, bragging, critizing members, etc they need to be
warned and spoken to. All of this is in violation of the respect policy.

If other helpers are in violation of any rules or you are simply having a conflict with a fellow helper, report it to *
GameWorld directly and I will handle the situation. If the violations of the helper add up enough, that person will be demoted back to a member rank and lose their helper privileges. If that person persists in their ways they can be exiled. The same applies if you have any complaints about any of the members.

If something happens in the chat and you absolutely have no idea what to do, contact me and I will handle it. If I am not around then you should use your best judgment. There will be times when it's best to do nothing if it requires the admin's involvement.

Helpers that are unaware of a present situation with selected members should
ask other staff members if it is being taken care of yet or not before butting in and taking over. This can prevent many conflicts. Do your job and let other helpers do theirs. If none of the staff reply in a short period of time about the "situation," then it should be ok for the you to assume involvement.

If you do not understand any of these rules then please consult *GameWorld, we'll be more than happy to explain them.
